Similarly, when we see a neighbor in need and one person offers help, others begin to join in. This act in itself is most likely what makes all the websites like gofundme such a huge hit. It gives everyone a chance to help someone in need.
In the past, I experienced my own ripple effect when I wrote a book of my breast cancer story and a nursing class out of Fulton donated to help get the books printed and then one of the student's mom's heard of their donation and she offered a check to double the amount and then someone else learned of this and did the same. It was mind blowing for me, on the receiving end, to watch this ripple take place.
Today, we are experiencing yet another ripple effect. Last month, Hope Chest for Charity held a food drive and then donated a Kitchen Full of Food to a neighbor in need. The very deserving Brown family out of Liverpool, NY gratefully accepted the donation and just after we posted the news on our blog, we were contacted by other central New Yorker's who wish to help the family.
We learned that this family makes daily trips to the public library in order to hop on their computers to look for work, submit resumes, get school work done, etc. Since learning this information, an anonymous neighbor has purchased a brand new computer for the Brown family, along with an HP printer. IN ADDITION, Dave from iCOM Technologies in Liverpool has graciously donated his time to help them get this new computer loaded with any of their personal information from their 10-year old broken computer.
What a beautiful ripple effect to watch.
Hope Chest for Charity would again like to extend our thanks to the Brown family for feeding our souls with goodness by being able to give, and to the generosity of our anonymous donor for the computer and Dave at iCOM Technologies for his invaluable services.
