The success of any fundraiser is always based on the number of dollars received. And when looking at it like this, we have no choice but to call this event a failure – from the perspective of lets say- our accountant… And no, we haven’t done the final tally yet but based on attendance and the amount of inventory we brought home, we can guestimate that we took a nice size loss.
So although the dollar and cents of it wasn’t where we would have liked it to be, that won’t stop us from promoting the 2016 Badass BBQ as a complete success! Because of the unwaivering support of our partners, vendors and volunteers – along with the dedicated attendees that showed rain or shine (we shall dub ya’ll as the ten percenters), it was truly a victory!
Now, it would be politically incorrect of me and down right rude to say that any one person or organization should be called out for their dedication – more than another – BUT Dale Nolan and his motorcycle club, along with Dan Streeter and about 22 others – took a short ride (which most likely felt like a very long ride) in torrential rain and flooding, to parade through the #BadassBBQ. Anyone in their right mind would have called off the RIDE due to weather. Thankfully, this group isn’t of their right mind and knew that it would mean the WORLD to me if they looped their badasses through my event carrying a pink ribbon flag. It hasn’t even been 24 full hours yet and I have watched that video dozens of times. THIS IS WHAT I CALL DEDICATION. Words can’t express my thanks for making this happen. This breast cancer survivor can take PINK MOTORCYCLE PARADE off her bucket list!

Are you seeing the same pattern here? Just goes to show what a fantastic group of people surrounded this event!
Ballantyne Gardens was a vendor at the 1st Badass BBQ in 2015 and again, joined us this year. Last year I don’t think they even made enough money for the gas it took to get there – this year they may have made a small amount more – so as a thank you for continuing to support an event that has yet made it worth their while – would ya’ll be kind enough to reach out somehow and support their small local business that makes a huge difference in this community? Find them on Facebook or subscribe to their monthly (very informative) email list or just stop by their shop in Liverpool and check out the natural wonders they offer.
The best decorated vendor booth blue ribbon winner was Sandy Petrusch!
There are many others like Kim and Joe who drove from Tennessee to be here, our DJ Kevin Shields from Shieldsy Entertainment, and my favorite boys in uniform - you know who you are - as well as some kick ass security guards whom I love and admire - not to mention the many friends who have followed my breast cancer journey since diagnosis and come to every awareness event, YES - rain, shine or snow... THANK YOU...
